Jena Argenta founded Brush & Reed after her travels to Turkey and China in 2016, and her travels around South America and Mexico in 2018. The mission of Brush & Reed, as well as its grounding aesthetic, was born from these travels.

Jena is an international artist and author of two volumes on calligraphic practice. She has a bachelor’s degree in fine art and (post)colonial studies from Sarah Lawrence College and is working toward and ijazah in Arabic script calligraphy with Elinor Aishah Holland in NY, and Ahmet Bursali in Istanbul. Her work has been privately and commercially commissioned in NYC, Mexico, Morocco, and across the U.S. She has given workshops as well as group and solo exhibitions in New York, New Mexico, and Puerto Rico, and has been featured in digital publications in Australia.
